Almost 5 weeks later and my time in New Zealand is coming to an end! I didn't expect that this country was such a beauty! The 5th of May I came to NZ, Auckland, with no plan at all. I only had booked a bus pass and that was it! Yeah.., Let the travels begin! :)
Bay of Islands and Cape Reinga were the first places that I went to. During this trip I met awesome people who I travelled with all around NZ. I was surprised about the beauty that NZ has to offer, but when I look back, this wasn't by far the best place that I have been to. A cool thing though, I have been to the most Nothern point of NZ!
Hot Water Beach, in here you can dig your own hot pool in the sand! How cool is that! I have to addmit, I have been watching, 0 degrees outside and sitting in a hot pool that is only for diehards! ;)
Waitomo, the place to be for the legenday black water rafting! Chilll but ow so cold!
Rotorua, if you love the smell of sulphur! I still can't believe that people actually want to live in a place like this. But it's definitely something different for a change! ;)
If you want to jump out of a plane, Go to Taupo! The skydive was awesome and the view is spectacular! It's an one in a lifetime experience! :D
River Valley is a very very very small place with nothing to do, except the white water rafting. With a boot of a wild river and surounded by a stunning view!
I heard a lot of nice things about Wellington, but to be honest, I was happy that I could leave after 2 days. It's a good place but not very special.
We went with the ferry from Wellington to Picton in the Soutern Islands. It was a long trip, but the view at the Ferry was incredible! When I saw this, I knew that the Southern had even more to offer then the North.
The first place in the south was Kaiteriteri. We went here for a long walk trough the Abel Tasman national park. This was beautiful! We have been so lucky with the weather, it is pretty cold at the moment, but if the sun is shining, the temperature doesn't matter! And that was almost every day! :)
I know now that doing a 20km walking track in NZ is a 'little bit' different to a 20km walking track in the Netherlands. I can't say that I was laughing all the time when I was walking up a steep steeper steepest mountain, but the view at the top was definitely worth it! I did walks like this in Queenstown and Lake Tekapo. I think Lake Tekapo is one of the best places I have been to!
Unfortunatelly, we haven't seen Wanaka, because we were stuck with our bus in Franz Josef. The weather in this place was that bad, that we couldn't do anything in here and the roads were closed. If the weather is good you can see some really nice Glaciers, but because of the weather we haven't seen one. :( We had to be here for 3 days till the roads were open again.
The place that I enjoyed the most was Queenstown. A small wintersport place, with a lot of nice bars, restaurants, walks, lakes etc. I stayed here for 1 week and wasn't bored ones!
At the moment I'm in Kaikoura, home to dolphins, whales and a lot more. I really look forward to see all these animals. After that I'm going back to Christchurch to fly the 11th of June to lovely warm Fiji!
And then the big news! I'm coming home, tell the world I'm coming home!
When..,That's gonna be a surprise! :P
Love you all! X
